The "Particle Arrangement and Compaction (PAC)" module is a central module for F-CAD software functionality. It offers instruments to build the formulation composition, reflect specifics on different unit operations, address particle geometry associated properties of the formulation, and set the component's physical and chemical properties.
The PAC module's user interface is slipt into 3 main sections: toolbar on the top of the page; visualization on the right; and composition section. On the toolbar, the basic commands such as "File Operations," "Shape Modification," or "Add New Component" are available.
The visualization section has three tabs: Crossectional view (default), Size Distributions, and 3D view.
You may change the tablet's crosssection either by dragging the slider underneath it or by choosing the viewing direction, i.e., front, top, or side;
The chart in the "Components Particle Size Distribution" is updated automatically, after every operation, such as "Distribute," "Grow," or "Clear."
If you want to see a three-dimensional rendering of the components in the tablet, you can switch to the "360° View" and click the "360° View" button on the toolbar. Please, be patient, as this operation might take a longer time to complete.
In the composition section, you can see the used components in the tablet as mass and volumetric percentages and their actual masses. To change the concentration or size of the components, use the panels below. Every component panel has the following commands: properties, this one invokes the components property dialog window; mass and size input boxes, to be used in combination with the command buttons. For example, to add a new component to the formulation, use the corresponding toolbar command. Using the "Properties" button on a newly added component, you can set the new title, color, and other properties of the substance. If you want to add 10mg of this component to the tablet, enter 10 into the mass input box and press the "Distribute" button. Wait for the operation to complete. If you want to add large granules, e.g., with 500microns in diameter, use 10 with the mass input box and 10 with the diameter input box. Press the "Distribute" button and wait for the completion of the operation. After that, press the "Seed" button and several times the "Grow" button until the average particle size (seen in the tab "Components particle size distribution" is reached.
To clear the formulation's component, press the "CLR" button; to delete the component, use the button with the "Trash" icon on it.
In the "Components Properties and Attributes," you can set the type of the component and other physical and chemical properties.
The component consists of 2 numbers: first indicates the functional set (e.g., soluble or non-soluble), and the second is its ordinal number. Keep in mind that setting the same type to two different components will blend these components without the possibility to separate them.
